If you got through last week’s tough energy and you’re still coherent, congratulations. It was definitely a week of challenges, upsets, transformation, and unexpected blessings and reversals. I know several people who made life changing decisions that they never thought they would make – they are good decisions that will take their lives in entirely new directions. We are under a lot of strong energy influences right now and these kinds of events can be the expectation for the next several months.
May is an interesting month, with more energetic activity, marked by Pluto’s first retrograde in Aquarius and Venus at the Zero Point, 0 Aries, on May 1. If you think this month will be a balmy ride, guess again. But we have lots of resources to help us consider new choices and make different decisions plus the benefit of May’s triple 5 numerology, so buckle up and hang on as you navigate the adventure of May.
~~~
As I have said in the past, May is a month whose name poses a statement or a question – I Ma ! or May I? – in which we can either ask for permission or make a bold and direct intention. Consider the difference in how you approach a choice you have to make. Do you state your intention boldly and clearly or ask those around you whether they think it’s a good idea? In May we have bold energy that can inspire action that is aligned with our deepest intention if we have the courage to make clear statements of direction instead of waiting for the right moment.
This is going to be a powerful and interesting month and traditionally May is known as the month in which the flowers bloom and that is what is happening in my garden. After 7 years of work, my garden is finally settling in and blooming beautifully. Gardening is an exercise in patience, work, trial and error, and negotiation.
If you put plants in the wrong place, they won’t thrive.
If things change in the garden – like my neighbor’s two trees that fell into my yard 3 years ago during a strong storm, knocking down 2 of my trees and completely changing the light landscape, you have to rework your garden layout.
Some plants just don’t grow, others, like daylilies, cannas, and irises, grow so much that you have to thin them out every few years or they will take over your garden completely, choking out and stifling everything else.
If you don’t like where certain plants are, you have to dig them out and place them somewhere else.
This is what May is going to be like. We have been on the ascension path for decades and now that we are coming to the fork in the road, a pivot point, it is time for us to take an inventory of our energetic resources and make sure that they are placed where we can grow and thrive.
May’s numerology is a triple 5 – May is the 5th month, May 2025 is a 5 (5 + 9 = 14, 1 + 4 = 5) and 2025 ends in a 5. 5 is the number of transformation, of choice and decision. 5 is an awkward number too. When there are 5 people in a group 1 is always the extra. We like even numbers, couples, and pairs. The number 5 is the Hierophant in the tarot, the bridge of knowledge between the spiritual and material worlds.
If you remember from April 2025 energy report I said the 10 Aries point figured prominently because it was the point at which both Mercury and Venus turned retrograde and the degree of the March 29 solar eclipse. The Sabian symbol meaning for 10 Aries is ‘an old man gives new meanings to old symbols’. In May we get to define those new meanings as the energies of March and April come together to create new pathways of potential.
May opens with two big events – Venus enters Aries on April 30 and May 1, at the Zero Point. This is the point of pure potential, where everything is possible because nothing has been decided. And Pluto has its first retrograde in Aquarius starting on May 4. It will be retro until October 14, returning to its degree of January 10. It won’t return to Capricorn, that paradigm is over. But its retro in Aquarius is our opportunity to consider what we have learned since Pluto entered Aquarius on December 20, 2024 and before that, on January 21, 2024. 2024 was a year of transition and 2025 is a year of implementation.
I like going to restaurants that give small samples of menu items so you can try them. Maybe you would not think to order them but that sample helps you decide. This Pluto retro in Aquarius is like that. We have had months to sample this new Pluto in Aquarius paradigm and with this first retrograde we get to think about what we liked and did not like, what worked for us and what didn’t, and make new choices that take us in new directions.
If you are feeling that your life path has come to a turning point, it’s time to make some changes. These may be voluntary or so obvious that you cannot ignore them, or you have come to the end of an energy road that is just not going to work for you any longer. No matter how it is presented to you, May’s energy is going to bring forward those things that are out of alignment, incongruent with, and unsuited for the 5D paradigm you want for your life.
And that’s not all that is happening in May. Mercury finally finished its retrograde in Aries/Pisces and moved past the 10 Aries point on April 27, the date of the April new moon. Venus won’t finish its retro and shadow period until May 16 so we are still dealing the March 29 eclipse energy in May. Eclipses always bring challenges, reversals, upsets, and a push for new action especially if we are ignoring the situation or in denial of problems and issues.
But there’s more. On May 25 Saturn hits the 0 Aries point as it moves into that sign for a stay, until it starts its retrograde on July 14 and goes back into Pisces for the rest of the year. On February 14, 2026 it will enter Aries again, for its 2 year stay in that sign.
Sidebar: From January 18 to January 25, 2026 all 3 personal planets, Mercury, Venus, and Mars, will cross the 0 Aquarius point. Then they will all conjunct Pluto around the same time. I find that extremely interesting as 2026 is a 1 year, new beginnings, and we will have Saturn and Neptune both making major transitions into 0 Aries within a few weeks of that date. A similar thing happened in late 2023 and early 2024 as all of the planets touched Pluto at the final degrees of Capricorn. 2026 begins on a powerful note, something to look forward to.
Saturn transits are probably the most difficult for us because they can present big turning points and challenges. We have the dreaded Saturn return which occurs every 29 years. One of my cousins died in a freak boating accident during his first Saturn return when he was 29 years old.
On an individual and collective level, Saturn cycles represent periods of deep upset, dis-integration, and transformation and that is probably because Saturn rules both Capricorn and Aquarius, which marks the end of the 3D paradigm and the beginning of the 5D paradigm.
The previous Saturn in Aries cycle was from April 1996 to February 1999, a particularly long one that also marked the end of a millennium. A lot was going on then and I remember that time as extremely challenging, with a lot of really tough moments and life changing events for me. I hope this one is a little easier because I had a tough time in the last one, maybe because I am an Aries.
What was that period like for you? I do not think we’re going to have a replay of those events because we are in a much different energy paradigm now but I definitely do not want a repeat of that.
May’s full moon of May 12 on the Scorpio/Taurus axis and the new moon of May 26 give us more energy points at which to make choices and decisions as to what we want to do now. We are in a new 5D paradigm, 3D is rapidly dis-integrating, and the old world paradigm is falling apart before our eyes. This is happening on an individual and a collective level. No one is exempt here. Even if the people around you appear to be unaffected, don’t make assumptions about what is really going on in their lives.
It is a good time to stay very focused, to maintain your own energetic integrity, and to work with the energy of your intention now. Intention creates an energy container for the Universe to work with, it is an energy tool that we should be using every day, in all situations, rather than just saving it for when we are really in trouble.
May’s energy theme is ‘Good things are happening and better things are on the way.” That may not be evident for you right now if your life appears to be falling apart but if that is happening, it is because better things are on the way and it’s time to clear out the old to make room for the new. As I wrote earlier, some people I know are making big life changes they thought they would never make (even though I told them they were coming) and while they are happy about the changes, there is a lot of work to do in preparation for them. Things they have put off for years need to be taken care of, and they can do it but now they have to work extra hard because they have a goal and deadlines to meet.
What good things are happening to you now? And good things are like blessings, which can look like non-blessings at first because they force us to change or to do things differently. But as much as we are reluctant to change because we get too comfortable in our ‘comfort zone,’ the things we want now are not in alignment with what we have or are being or doing so something has to change.
In May we get to appreciate our ‘good things’ into better things. To acknowledge what does not work, what is not aligned, what is not actionable, or is barely ticking along, into real joy, action, movement, and progress. We can get used to a life that just drags on and we have. Now we have a new imperative – create a life that has movement, , that is fulfilling and joyful. If you have been afraid to get started, situations may just push you forward. If you have been spending a lot of time thinking about what to do next, the Universe may just push a choice on you.
And isn’t it interesting that there was a surprise upset in the Kentucky Derby winner by a horse named ‘Sovereignty.’ What has been the overall theme of our ascension path – energetic sovereignty. I call that a sign, do you?
Use the energy of May to declare your energetic sovereignty, to have bold, clear, and direct intentions, to be willing to pivot and change course when it is obvious that the one you are on is just not going to work out for you. Or to celebrate the results and outcomes of the work you have already done, acknowledging your success as you prepare for new adventures. Be bold this month, let your light shine brightly and don’t be afraid to prune where needed and remember that in every garden, removing spent flowers, a process called deadheading, is necessary if you want the plant to continue to bloom.
Have a wonderful month
