The body is naturally in an aligned state.
In fact, it knows how to align itself, if we let it.
For example, if you need more oxygen in the body, you'll notice you naturally start breathing deeper or heavier. When the body needs to cool down, we naturally begin to perspire. Both of these are just examples of how smart the body is, and the signals that are naturally sent on a daily basis.
But throughout our daily lives, we’re met with many stressors that can easily knock us out of alignment.
It can be as simple as not getting enough sleep the night before, not fueling yourself properly with enough nourishing foods or not staying hydrated; to greater things like relationship complications with a partner, friend or coworker, extra stress from work or working too many hours and not letting yourself rest, financial worries and more.
The problem arises when we ignore the signals or symptoms as they appear and don’t allow ourselves or our bodies to self-regulate. For example, experiencing fatigue after pushing yourself to complete a lengthy project, and instead of letting yourself rest, you chug down a few cups of coffee and simply keep going.
The longer a signal or imbalance is ignored, the more likely that the energetic imbalance will manifest into something physical.
After a prolonged period of time of “chugging the coffee” instead of allowing ourselves to rest, or ignoring the signals that we softly start to feel, we will oftentimes end-up with a greater energetic imbalance. In fact, the signals will keep getting louder until you listen to them. The fatigue you experience turns into an illness in your body, or headaches or migraines. The longer something goes unnoticed or ignored, the more likely that the energetic imbalance will manifest into something physical.
It may feel like the right thing to do to pull a few all-nighters to “get the job done”, but the havoc it can wreak on your system can oftentimes take much longer to heal from than you’d like.
So, how can you tell when you’re experiencing an imbalance vs when you’re balanced and in alignment? It’s actually quite simple. Alignment feels easy, where an imbalanced state feels difficult.
Alignment is ease and flow, Misalignment is struggle and stress
Alignment feels like flow, ease, progress, movement and comfort. Where a misalignment, or imbalanced state, feels like you're swimming upstream, you’re extra tired or experiencing exhaustion, or you may find yourself “stressed-out” and/or full of anxiety. It’s different for everyone, and can show up in different ways at different times.
The important thing to remember is that we are all our own biggest healers, and can always bring ourselves back into alignment when we’re ready to. However, it’s much easier to do this when we pay attention to the smaller imbalances so that they don’t build-up and create a larger imbalance that requires more time and attention to come back from.
How Can We Align Ourselves?
The first step comes with practices such as mindfulness, meditation and body scans. We need to first connect with ourselves and our bodies on a deeper level, so that we can identify what an aligned state actually feels like. When we numb our emotions and feelings with stimulants, sugar, alcohol and other quick fixes like social media or binge-watching TV, we can sometimes lose site of what our baseline emotions actually are.
Once you can start identifying when you’re out of alignment vs in alignment, depending on your situation, the next step can be as simple as catching-up on sleep, drinking a huge glass of mineral water or taking some time to journal out your emotions. Other times, we may require the assistance of deep healing work like energy healing sessions that focus on removing the blocks causing your imbalance at the root level, and balancing your energy to promote further self-healing.
