Is Not a but a State of —
As long as your love is related to the other, you are searching for love at the level of the body, and it is bound to be a failure. When you light the lamp of love inside, love is not related to anybody; it is your state of being. It becomes your very nature; then you experience only love in your life.
When you have the real coin of love in your pocket, there is no question such as, “What is love?” There is no question such as, “Why is love happening?” Then love is causeless. Then love is not directed toward this and that. Love is love.
If anybody is close by, he will share the light of your lamp of love. If a man is close by, the man will share it; if a tree, then a tree; if the sea, then the sea; if the moon, then the moon – even if there is nobody to share, the lamp of love will burn alone, on and on.
Love is a pathway to godliness. But the love we know, at the level of the body, takes us to hell. The love we know is the door to the insane asylum. The love we know is the door to all quarrels, disputes, fights, violence, anger, and hate. That love is false.
The love I am talking about is the pathway that connects you to godliness. This love is not relationship. This love is your state of being. It is not related to anybody else, it is related to you.
You should understand something more about this kind of love. It is worth remembering certain things from this world of love.
The first point: as long as you understand love as a relationship, you will not be able to reach the point of real love. All your talk about love is wrong. Your definition of love is an illusion. As long as a mother thinks of the love for her son; a friend thinks of the love for his friend; a wife thinks of the love for her husband; a brother thinks of the love for his sister – as long as you think of love in relationship to someone else, there cannot be an opening of love in your life.
Do not think in terms of relationship. It is not that you love somebody. You have to overflow with love, you have to be full of love twenty-four hours a day. Love should be breathing in and breathing out for twenty-four hours. While sleeping, while awake, while getting up, at every stage, your life should have a feeling of love. It is a loving attitude, as if a flower is releasing its fragrance…
Love should become your very nature. When getting up, sitting, sleeping, waking up, it should radiate from you just like the fragrance of a flower, just like the light of a lamp. When this happens, love becomes prayer; love becomes the pathway to godliness. Then love connects you with the whole, the infinite.
