Some Questions...

Q: Cosmic Consciousness - is it the same as the impersonal Self?

Maharishi: No, it is inclusive of personal and impersonal Self. That is why we call it “Cosmic”. Personal Self is experiencing objects through the eyes, - personal Self. Impersonal Self is the Transcendent Self-Consciousness. ..that is the Transcendent, right out of the field of relativity. When that Impersonal Self comes to be lived along with personal Self, hand in hand, that is Cosmic Consciousness.

Q: Does the mind belong to the body?

Maharishi: No, the body belongs to the mind, and the mind belongs to the Soul.

The Soul Is the Cosmic mind, Cosmic Being; its child is the individual mind and gross body is the child of the individual mind.

It is the subtle field of the gross creation - subtle body, subtle mind - which the individual mind is learning to experience in order to acquire ability to Experience the Transcendent Soul, the State of Being.

Refinement enables it to See, to Feel, to Live in the Life of Being which is the Source of all creation, that which is Omni Present, to live Unity and diversity both together in Oneness.

Q: What is the relationship between the subconscious mind and the Soul?

Maharishi: The mental faculties, which are not apparent and are inactive constitute the sub-conscious mind. The Soul, which Is Transcendent, stands in the same relationship to the conscious mind as to the sub-conscious.

The Soul is like the “sea bed” beyond the limits of water. The sub-conscious mind is like deeper levels of water akin to the surface levels.

Q: Maharishi, is this Meditation very old?

Maharishi: Very Old. Most Ancient Tradition. Truth is Ancient Knowledge and the Way to realization of the Truth is also very ancient.

Nothing is new in this world.

Q: What is Spirituality?

Maharishi: The Being of the Spirit is the Absolute Aspect of the Spirit, and that is the status that Knows no change. It is of Absolute Order. That is, Spiritually speaking -the Goal of this Meditation.

The purpose of this Meditation is to know Spiritually by direct experience, what the I of the mind is, what the I of the intellect is, what the I of the ego is.

The I Is All aspects of the Spirit, which Is the very Source of the Spirit. The Eternal Being alone Is Spirituality. Absolute Bliss Consciousness Is Spirituality, the unity pervading all Is Spirituality.
