1700s Ghost Ship Washes Ashore in Florida After Hurricane Milton
In an eerie aftermath of Hurricane Milton, a fully intact 1700s-era ghost ship washed ashore near St. Augustine, Florida, on Wednesday, baffling both locals and experts. The mysterious vessel, which had been lost to time, emerged from the ocean’s depths as the Category 4 storm churned the Atlantic, sending the ancient ship onto the beach.
Authorities have cordoned off the area to protect the fragile vessel, believed to be a merchant ship from the late 18th century. Experts suspect the violent storm disturbed an underwater graveyard of shipwrecks, forcing the ghostly relic to the surface.
“This is unprecedented. To see a ship this old, in such good condition, simply appear out of the ocean during a hurricane—it’s both fascinating and chilling,” said Dr. Andrew Clarke, a marine archaeologist on the scene.
No crew or cargo has been found aboard the ship, which only adds to the growing mystery. Locals have reported hearing strange sounds near the site, leading to speculation about the vessel’s supernatural ties. The ship will remain under guard until historians and archaeologists can document its contents.
Though the town is still recovering from Hurricane Milton, the ghost ship has quickly become the talk of St. Augustine, with residents and tourists eager to learn more about the long-lost ship and the storm that brought it ashore.
