Yeshua was Jewish his name was given from the archangel Gabriel in Luke 1 where he tells Mary (or Miriam) to name her son Yeshua, meaning “Salvation”
An angel also tells Joseph, “you shall call his name “Yeshua” for He will save people from their sins.” (Matt 1:21-22)
Much like other Hebrew names, it was his calling and destiny from the beginning.
Later, Mary’s cousin Elizabeth gave birth to John. John’s father Zechariah prophesied that his son will “give to people the knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins” (Luke 1:77).
Thirty years later John the Baptist literally fulfilled this, pointing to Yeshua as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Although Zechariah might not have understood it, he prophesied the name of the One who would bring forgiveness for one’s sins “Yeshua”
The original Hebraic name for Jesus is Yeshua Hamashiach which means
the “Messiah” Yeshua translated into English, would be “Joshua.”
When the Greeks we’re translating scrolls in their language they would call him IZEUS. This is where Jesus' name from Yeshua Hamashiach got Hellenized from the Greek word “IZEUS" or son of Zeus.
This, of course, would be a far cry from proper theology. if we took Jesus' name to mean "Son of Zeus." After all, Antiochus Epiphanes IV desecrated the temple by putting a statue of Zeus within it.
So as the many pieces of Truth are revealed her is another. When speaking to and to others. Let’s call him by his rightful righteous name.
Yeshua Hamashiach the Messiah!
Thank You for being the lamb of God who suffered the sins to cleanse us with your sacred body and mind as we strive to walk a humble and continuous path of love.
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacekeepers for they share inherent the New Earth.
