Arthur C Clarke - Fractals - The Colors Of Infinity . . . "brings us inside the world of fractal geometry, and soon enough we’re encountering what has been called “the thumbprint of God.”

In the San Francisco Bay Area are some of the best psychedelic video makers, and in the late 90s, I received some of those videos when I was living in Santa Barbara. Some of them focused on fractals and Mandelbrot sets, and showed how one could keep going forward, deeper and deeper into the pattern, and keep discovering more copies of the pattern in the parts of it. I remember being fascinated with it at that time.

This is an educational video, which shows the same thing, although this one provides the interviews with the scientists to inform the viewer about the science and the history behind it. Very interesting.

One of the benefits of this is a greater understanding of how nature works, and not just merely pretty images which are beautiful and fascinating. It will be good to see how they will also reveal implications for practical improvements in the real life of society.

The incredibly beneficial state of pure consciousness reached in deep meditation is reached through a fractal-like iteration of the sound vibration known as the mantra, so although it is audio and not visual, it does have that fractal-like resemblance.

Below are some great fractal images.

Love and Light, Taansen
